Three

Today my baby boy is 3 years old. I can not believe that this time has come already. It really seems like it was yesterday that the three of us lived in the little basement apartment. Bringing Sam home and learning to be parents. We are still learning really!

He grown into this amazing little boy who knows what he wants and tells us everyday. My tractor and truck loving boy plays behind me learning to play the kazoo, a gift from Auntie Ashley. He is changing everyday and I watch and learn from him. We are teaching each other so much. I feel blessed that he has chosen me to join him on his journey here on earth. I can only hope that I can guide him in all the right ways.

I made him a quilt for the big event. He asked for a Lightening McQueen blanket made by Mommy. So of course it was made. I will tell you all about it tomorrow.

I am off today to the Fire Station Open House to celebrate Sam's Birthday. Then I am going out to participate in the Georgina Studio Tour at Lisa Charlton's Place.

Come on out and take a visit.

A Dream Come True

There was a moment many years ago and I saw an ad in a pottery magazine with a picture of a woman with her wheel on the middle of the main street making pots. I thought to myself, Wow wouldn't that be amazing. Doing what I love in the middle of town for everyone to see!

Today I manifested that dream and was a participant at this years Fall Festival here in town and I had my wheel and made pots in the middle of the Main Street. It was the most amazing day. A beautiful fall day, the sun shining and the cool breeze blowing.

As I sat there making things with a huge crowd of watchers around me. I loved around and saw the love of my life standing with a smile of love and support on his face. As though he too understood what this moment meant for me and my dream of being a potter, a mother, a wife and artist. I was making my dream a reality. It may have taken us a while to get here but here we are together making it happen.

There have been moments here lately with some sick, some teething and another turning 3 next week and the transition that birthdyas bring about when I question what it is that I am doing and whether I am able to continue. Then I have this special glimse today as more and more people are touched and excited that I am offer classes and selling pottery here in town. As if no one else has ever done it and I am the potter who saves the day and brings pottery to Newmarket. I see friends and talk to many people and realize that I am a part of this community. For the first time I have a place somewhere and I am reminded that I am doing what I am suppost to do in the right place.

Illness

We are snuggled in with illness around here. Surfaced long enough to say that I am hoping to come out of the head cold fog soon and have very interesting things to say. Or at least that is the goal in mind.

Off to rest more and recover.

Deep Breathes and Mindfulness

I am inspired by Waldorf Mama's Gratitude Fridays. Maybe if once a week I am able to look and see all the things that have happened in the past week that I am grateful for this will help me be more present in the moment. Being able to take a breathe, it things for a moment and the move forward.

This week I am Grateful for:

~ a little girl that is learning to sit on her own

~ learning the treasured pickles recipe from my Grandmother

~ learning to take a break and allow things to heal

~ friends that help with this healing

~ the students that grace me with their time in the studio

~ for a little boy that helps to me see the small miracles in life

What are you grateful for this week?

The Pumpkin Spice is back...Fall is here!

Long Weekends are the best. I am back with renewed sense of peace and motivation. I am resting the knee and hope to be back out running in no time. I am worried I will lose motivation and momentum but I am going to put my energies into come Yoga and Core Training. The goal date is coming up and I want to know I put my best effort into it. Plus I am loving every minute I am out there running! Who Knew?

The sale was great. We came home with money to make rent and so therefore I have less pressure in the studio this week. This will allow me to get the projects done that I need too without the money stress hanging over me, just the creative gods instead. September is turning out to be a busy month and I am going to need to ask for help in all the areas that I need. With the fall creeping up on us as well I am hoping to get the kids into a routine and therefore less chaos around the house. I rolling ebb and flow to our day is what I am attracting and going to strive for. The lazy days of summer are behind us and since the pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks this means that fall is here!

Apple picking, canning, freezing and harvesting. There are many great adventures that await us this fall.

On a side note: I had this moment today in the yard with the kids; Sam playing and laughing and Lily and I laying in the grass nursing. The sun was shining keeping the chill at bay and I thought to myself that this was one of those perfect moments. I took a second to record everything in my senses. The smell, the light, the sounds and the feeling that it gave me. I tucked it away in the memory bank to take out when I need it.
What moments have you tucked away recently?

Garage Sale

We are off this weekend to Nana and Papa's farm. They are having a garage sale and we are off to help them with this project. Mainly because Sam's cute face could sell anything as well as some of the stuff is ours that have been in the attic storage since we moved back from Peterborough 3 1/2 years ago. We thought Hey! let's make some money on this stuff as well as finding homes for it as well.
We are hoping to sell our double stroller and many of the other things that neither one of my children have used or liked ie. Swing and Bumbo chair, so that we are able to buy a sit and stand stroller. Hoping that this will solve the problem of pushing that huge double around with Sam in it when he can walk but needs a spot to rest.

Here's to a great last weekend of Summer. ENJOY!

Do they sense the end?

It is like they sense the end of summer and are holding on kicking and screaming!! It just so happens that the screaming is coming out in our days.

Breathing and knowing that this to shall pass. Fall in coming and so a new routine. Once we 'fall' into it everything will settle.

Until then, I am sipping Chai Lattes and taking a few extra minutes while running.
